On 10th May, the year 11 drama class attended a fantastic performance at the Royal Exchange Theatre for the last time before they leave. Read more below.
Miss Vanstone quoted “I was a little nervous that they may not enjoy a classic production of Chekhovs’ The Cherry Orchard. A bit of a wordy play where nothing much goes on except for discussions surrounding Russian society, the portrayal of broken relationships and lots of unpronounceable names.
How wrong could I have been. I got that fuzzy drama teacher feeling on two occasions tonight. Once when they came out at the end and critiqued the play all the way back to the mini bus, saying how much they had loved it; and the other when both the general public, and the theatre staff themselves commented on the mature and sensible behaviour of our pupils and how well they expressed their theatrical options.”
A great night enjoyed by both students and staff being a credit to the school. Well done everyone.
